DBT Outpatient TreatmentThe DBT Center of Southern California offers a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) outpatient program in Los Angeles. Our outpatient DBT program provides treatment for psychiatric disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and eating disorders.

In addition to DBT therapy, and when appropriate, the center provides treatment using other evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Trauma treatment is available based on a client’s progress.

Other services offered at the DBT Center of Southern California include case management, family and couples therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management.

If you require more intensive treatment and support, the DBT Center of Southern California also offers a residential DBT program and day treatment DBT program.

When you enter our outpatient DBT program, you will be paired with a trained DBT therapist who you will meet with for regularly scheduled individual DBT sessions. You will also participate in regular DBT skills groups and phone coaching.

Your DBT therapist will help you to learn healthy coping skills and will guide you through homework assignments to help you strengthen your DBT skills. Our team of DBT therapists has received training through Behavioral Tech, Marsha Linehan’s training institute, or UCLA Harbor Hospital’s DBT training program.

Outpatient treatment at the DBT Center of Southern California in Los Angeles is individualized based on your personal needs. Upon admission to our DBT program, you will receive a bio-psycho-social assessment, psychiatric assessment, nutrition assessment, and psychological testing (as needed) to help us better understand your treatment needs.

Treatment at the DBT Center of Southern California focuses on the development of DBT skills. These skills are taught in DBT groups and focus on improving behavioral, emotional, and cognitive instability. DBT groups focus on the development of the following four skill sets:

While at the DBT Center of Southern California, you will participate in one of two DBT skills groups per week, where you will learn the four DBT skills. The center offers a daytime DBT group and an evening DBT group to accommodate individual schedules.
